Walker bros is great but it was packed. We went here and so far have not turned back, been here a few times now. More spacious, brighter interior and easy to talk to one another not cramped. Great food and the options for all types. Parking is very easy and vast

Very busy and very fast service. I had the veggie skillet, which included potatoes and a stack of pancakes. Very big portions and a lot of food. Reasonable prices.

It closes at 3:30 pm on Mondays and of course we showed up at 2:45, easily finding parking in the vast, freshly blacktopped lot. (My co-diner didn't tell me it was soon to close for the day, as he was the one who checked what was then-open in the area.) But our late arrival didn't affect the good service. Service was very good and the atmosphere was clean and bright this sunny Monday, seated next to a wall of windows facing Waukegan Rd. Food was fine and, in agreement with some other reviews, not the most flavorful. However, salt and pepper were at every table with the implied expectation that diners could season their food to taste. (That cooking style was the norm in college, so no complaints.) And portions were large. If we weren't very hungry we certainly would have taken home leftovers. We've yet to try the coffee but the hot chocolate was fine and orange juice very good. Prices were also reasonable.

Went on a monday and only like a dozen people in the place. It took awhile to get a waiter. The food was good but never got water and no refill on the coffee and when it was time to leave we waited forever for the check since the waiter was MIA. Staff needs to do better.

Stopped in on a whim after wanting some simple diner fare and was blown away by the quality of the food. The menu doesn't appear to be anything special. It's the usual diner food, but it seems to be much higher quality than the average diner. Everything we had was excellent and far exceeded our expectations. The matzo ball soup was special treat and not something you can get at any restaurant. Very much recommended. The prices were fair considering the quality. About average for restaurants in the area. Didn't go in expecting much, but this place is somewhere we will return to for sure

From our visit back in May. If you're looking for one of the classic diner atmospheres in town, this is a great option. Savory dishes not exceptionally flavorful, but still an enjoyable experience.
